Swedish company unveils Covid-19 microchip implant

A Swedish company has shown in a video how a corona passport can be implanted as a microchip into a human body. Some Christians speculate that this could be the fulfilment of the Biblical prophecy about the “mark of the beast” and choose therefore not to vaccinate.

International media, such as the Daily Mail and Fox Business, write about it. The video shared on Twitter by South China Morning Post showing people in Sweden having the Covid-19 passport microchip implanted under their skin has received more than 2.4 million views as of Monday.

In the video Hannes Sjöblad, Chief Officer of Disruptive -a tech company specializing in implantable microelectronics- demonstrates how the microchip, adapted as a Covid-19 passport, is implanted under the skin either in the arm on between the thumb and forefinger.

Reversible

The Stockholm-based company Epicenter developed the chip, which is the size of a grain of rice. It can also store other data, all of which can be accessed by a device, such as a smartphone, that uses the near-field communication protocol. The chip uses pre-existing technology that the firm was already developing. Epicenter has been working on human-compatible technology for years.

“Implants are a very versatile technology that can be used for many different things,” says Sjöblad in the video. “Right now, it's very convenient to have Covid passports always accessible on your implant.” Epicenter claims the procedure is “completely reversible”. The chips are not yet for sale, but the firm has made headlines earlier when staff had passkeys implanted in their hands.

Chest

According to the Polish website ChnNews.pl, which relies on Swedish sources, more and more people in Sweden are implanting microchips that contain vaccination history. A video recently published by the Swedish daily Aftonbladet shows a man having such a chip implanted near his right-hand thumb. According to the Polish website, the recording also includes other people who have such a device – in their hand, arm, or chest. A cell phone was used to recognise the chip. Then the QR code containing the covid certificate appeared on the smartphone.

Moa Petersen, who researches digital cultures, claims that around 6,000 people in Sweden have had a chip inserted in their hands, The Christian Post based on Anadolu Agency writes. It is unknown how many of them got it implanted mostly as a Covid-19 passport, as the technology first began being used in that country in 2014.

Prophecy

The AFP newswire reported in 2018 that about 3,000 Swedes had inserted the chips into their bodies.

Some Christians speculate that implanting a chip under the skin could be the fulfilment of the Biblical prophecy about the “mark of the beast”, referring to the Apostle John's prophecies in Revelation 13:15-17. In response to the video posted by South China Morning Post, many Twitter users replied to the post, writing “666” and “the Mark of the Beast,” referring to the Apostle John's prophecies in Revelation 13:15-17.

The first person to have a microchip implanted was the British scientist and professor in cybernetics Kevin Warwick in 1998.
