Since the Norwegian Christian Party changed its name to the Christian Conservative Party, memberships have increased.
In the six weeks after the name change, 40 people left the party. However, 99 people joined the newly named party. “There is probably a group that valued our party name very highly and has therefore chosen to opt-out. There is, on the other hand, a larger group that has seen the name as such a big barrier that it is only now that they want to sign up”, says deputy chairman Tomas Moltu to the Norwegian Christian daily Dagen.
The party, founded in 2011, changed its name in 2015 too. Then, it was renamed from “The Christians” to “The Christian Party”. The party currently has no seats in the Norwegian Parliament.
